QUOTATIONS

A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

Since the end of July, I´ve had the pleasure to become a member of a Yahoo community called "Learning with computers". Last week, I asked if anyone could help me add a powerpoint presentation to a blog of mine and to my surprise lots of wonderful members came to my aid with ideas of how I could do that. First, as suggested by a member I tried taking screenshots of my presentation in order to attach it to bubbleshare but the pictures didn´t come out so well because of reflex (is that the right word in English?). Then I tried uploading my file to www.elgg.net and I guess it worked. Here is the link to a presentation created for our TTC at Cultura Inglesa, based on the workshop given by Ron Martinez at Braz-tesol Brasília, July 2006. Hope you like it.

All these ideas were taken from Ron Martinez's book : "Como dizer tudo em inglês / Avançado".

I´d like to share another presentation with you. This time using slideshare. These are sentences taken from the book called "Language hungry" and I normally use individual slides to start class. The objective is to offer students something interesting to think about and in English.

LOGO GENERATOR

Have you ever worked with logo generators? This one is really interesting as the shapes of the letters change every time you access the blog. The site is SIGN GENERATOR. Have a try!

IMAGES 2

This is a collage made from paintings of my favourite artist. Can you guess who he is? This is his name in scrambled letters : ENTOM
I used the program montage-a-google for that.

WORKING WITH IMAGES

As many other LWCers have said , working with images can be quite addictive. These were my trials with images today. This is an official seal for my blog.

I created a Slide Show! Check it out!

I´ve just inserted the slideshow at the top of this blog. Hurray! These pictures were taken during a teacher´s get-together. We,teachers from Cultura Inglesa Uberlandia, get together regularly at a teacher´s house to chat and eat! Luiz Pedro always finds a reason for gathering everyone, and we sure enjoy ourselves.

"How do you feel when you make a mistake?"

Many learners and teachers do their best in avoiding mistakes, when in fact we should like and welcome them. By analysing students´ mistakes teachers can observe how learning is taking place and this way through feedback help students reformulate their trials.

These are sentences taken from the book "Language Hungry" by Tim Murphey which can make us think about this topic:

"Mistakes are actually wonderful things; they can even help the learning process."

"If we´re not making mistakes, we´re not going anywhere" Gordon Forward

"Many people dream of success. To me success can only be achieved through repeated failure and introspection" Soichiro Honda

"If I make a mistake, it´s okay - I don´t have to be perfect."

If we want to learn English well, we have to see our mistakes as a necessary part of learning.
